Can I receive services in the Russian language in a Serbian bank?

Can I open an account in RUB in a Serbian bank?

API Bank is one of the rare banks in Serbia that offers RUB accounts: RUB accounts will be especially useful to you if you receive income in roubles in Russia, which you want to transfer to your account in Serbia without any FX translation losses.

What is the amount of cash in foreign currency that I can bring into Serbia if I’m not a citizen of Serbia and have no residency permit?

You can bring any amount, but if it exceeds EUR 10,000 (or its equivalent if in other currencies), then you will have to fill in a declaration at customs, which will issue a customs certificate.

What are the restrictions for depositing cash into my bank account in Serbia?

If you are depositing an amount higher than EUR 10,000 or equivalent in other currencies, you will have to provide a customs certificate of bringing the money into Serbia, or a certificate from another bank in Serbia that confirms you withdrew the amount from your foreign currency account.

How much cash in foreign currency can I bring out of Serbia if I’m not a citizen of Serbia and have no residency permit?

You can bring any amount out of Serbia that does not exceed EUR 10,000 (or its equivalent in other currencies). You can bring out an amount that exceeds this limit if you have a certificate confirming that the amount in foreign currency was withdrawn from a bank in Serbia.

What are the restrictions for bringing out cash in RSD?

Serbian nationals and foreigners can bring in/out cash in RSD in amounts not exceeding the countervalue of EUR 10,000.

Can I open an account in a Serbian bank if I have a Russian passport, but no residency permit in Serbia?

You can.
You just need to personally visit one of our branches, and bring your passport.

If I want to withdraw more than EUR 10,000 in cash from my account, what do I do?

You need to contact the bank (by phone, email or in person) and submit a free form request for withdrawing cash. The bank will prepare the requested amount, in compliance with NBS limits for amount, and you can pick it up at one of our branches, which you designated in the request.

Can I transfer money from Russia to Serbia?

Our bank accepts transfers in roubles and foreign currency.

How can I spend money from my account?

When you open a foreign currency account, you automatically get a VISA card in RSD, which you can use to pay for goods and services, and withdraw cash. You can withdraw cash in RSD from ATMs of other banks in Serbia three times a month without fees.

How can I pay utility bills in Serbia (telephone, Internet and other utilities)?

Mobile app and e-banking are the most affordable method for paying regular bills. However, in order to use this service, you need to get a residency permit and live in Serbia for at least one year. Until then, you should visit our branch, where our employees will help you execute payments quickly. If you would rather not visit a branch, we propose that you fill in an account authorisation form, in which you can list all your regular payments, and then execute them by sending an application via email.

What term deposits does the bank offer?

The bank offers favourable interest rates on 6-month deposits in leading currencies.

Do you issue certificates for obtaining visas and residency permits?

Of course! This service only takes a couple of minutes.
